Post subject: Mother has breast cancer...
|
|
|
Hey everyone...My mother was diagnosed with "Ductal carcinoma insitu'"...Breast Cancer...she had her surgery on July 10th to remove the cancerous tumor...the surgeon feels that she got it all...Now it's radiation therapy for 6-7 weeks...everyday...For those of you who pray...keep my mom in your prayers...she has been hit with so many illnesses over the years..that I'm not very optimistic about this...She is also a diabetic ....she has had type II diabetes for many years and is insulin dependent...so the docs are kind of leery about the radiation having an adverse affect on her kidneys...and liver...
Thanks everyone...El Bandito

Having seen my husband go to pieces at me merely finding a second breast lump last year (luckily benign) I can understand the worry you and your family are going through. If there's any support we can give you just ask _________________

Thanks so much guys...she is a fighter...always has been...My biggest concern is that in 1998 she had a triple heart by-pass..."Had two heart attacks in a 24 hr period"...then in 2004 she was hospitalized for "Stephylococcus Aureas" "Staph infection of the blood...which in turn attacked the bones...with something called "Osteomylitis" We almost lost her then...Now here it's 2006 and she has breast cancer...At the age of 70 I would say she is a fighter...She refused the chemotherapy so far..and they aren't even sure that someone with her health record is a candidate for chemo ....so were gonna give the radiation a try...then she will be given something called "Tomoxifin"...for the rest of her life...it's a pill that gives a low amount of chemo without the hair loss and adverse effects...
I myself have went through chemotherapy and it is "NO PICNIC"...
Thanks again guys....El Bandito _________________ Never fear the dead, fear the living, they are more dangerous...."Trust Me" |

thanks guys for your replies...Right now I don't think she is really worried...instead of stressing over the situation..MY mother decided to go to the beach...LOL...When she gets back we will start the radiation...so...will see where it all turns out...El Bandito _________________ Never fear the dead, fear the living, they are more dangerous...."Trust Me" |

Hi Becky
Sorry to hear about your mom...I just wanna add..I too have had bowel cancer...I was told ages ago about --> Essiac Tea and read up on it...how many cancer patients use it and it does work..its worth reading up on...I take it every day...and now all my tests run clear...
The reason why doctors dont mention herbal remidies for cancer...is due to the fact they will loose so much money on their cancer research....but at least consider reading up on it..before you tell your mom
here is the link Becky --> http://www.naturallythinking.com/category/asp/CtgID/214/af/page.htm
check it out...let me know what you think....its working for me..so who knows eh?
Your mom is in my prayers...something just told me to look this info up for you _________________

Thanks so much Geri...I did look at the link...very interesting....she also has diabetes and is insulin dependent...but I will still have to ask her PCP if herbal is ok...she is on 15 different medications..for her heart and blood pressure etc,.I just have to make sure that the herbal therapy won't counteract with the other meds...It would be really great if she could use it...she also has skin problems resulting from the Staphylococcus Aureas that she had in 2004...she has been really sick since then and sometimes skin irritation goes with the side effects of the staph which led into Osteomylitis...On top of that the poor woman has Osteo and well as Rheumatoid artheritis and is allergic to all pain killers except "Darvocet"...I don't know how she keeps herself so active...I'm very proud of her going to the beach but found out today that she had to go indoors and take oxygen..."she has her own oxygen machine with her..." Seems she just got to overheated but said that she has been hanging out on the deck/patio/balcony...and is enjoying herself...
Thanks again for the link...I may try it myself as I have "Hypoglycemia"...it may help ???? El Bandito _________________ Never fear the dead, fear the living, they are more dangerous...."Trust Me" |

I know this is an old post...But just wanted to thank you all for all your thoughts and prayers for my family.
We received very good news yesterday evening..."My mother is cancer free"..the radiation as well as the surgical procedure worked!!! She will of course be monitored for the rest of her life but it's looking good.
In this post a while back I told you all that she would be on "Tomoxifin" for the rest of her life...That unfortunately will not be an option as she has something called "DVT"..which is something that causes blood clots to form in the legs...with the tomoxifin it could be deadly so that's a real no..no for her...
Thanks again everyone...It has meant a lot to me.. _________________ Never fear the dead, fear the living, they are more dangerous...."Trust Me" |
