My daughter and I have attended services at a Roman Catholic church, a Jewish synagogue, a Buddhist temple, and several denomination of Christian services as well. We haven't attend a muslim service because, frankly, there aren't any in this area.

We discuss the various types of religion, and she is free to make her own choice. We have also discussed mine and my wifes choice of belief. She listens well, and will make her own decision when she is ready.

And, I am very proud to say that she is understanding and accepting of other cultures, 'races' and religions as well as those of alternate gender lifestyles.

Did you notice that I placed the word "races" in quotes? That is because I and my wife believe, and are teaching our child, that there is only one race of humans on this planet. big grin

Good for you JM we had a good situation yesterday , my son met a all female partnership and had the chance to ask his new friend whah was it like to have two MOm's and other questions , I never want him to add to the existing discrimination that exists and they talked alot on what their journey was like as a lesbian couple....Our kids are the next mentality the next visions, the future, if we are to live in harmony with one another it starts with loving one another........Great post JM

We have raised our children now grown men to honor and respect all forms of spiritual and cultural diversities. I was doing most of my research into religious history when they were growing up so naturally I would talk to them about it. When I could get them to stand still long enough. They had the evangelical baptist and the catholic influence around them when they were growing up too so I think they had they basics to carry them on their journey into the spiritual unknown. Our youngest is like me in a lot of his ways of thinking. We haven't been around each other for quite a while so he has had many other experiences and influences other than mine and now I'm finding out that we are more alike than we ever knew. I'm so glad that we raised our boys to embrace other cultures and spiritualities and they are better people because of it.

I had a discussion with 101 on this today. She was wanting to know if it is safe to let children explore all the religions offered on the internet. My answer was, "unless your child is exception, all exploration should be supervised, but otherwise let them explore and answer their questions truthfully, yet be sure to tell the reasons you believe in your faith." Good advice "Oh Wise One" :drink:
You should always monitor and work closely with your child especially with this topic. The parent might even learn a thing or two.

Her problem is that they took most internet access away from her office. I try to keep her abreast with what is going on here and on UM and when she can, she goes online at her Mom's. She knows about this website and says that the next time she is online, she will drop by and say Hi. She is doing pretty good and as always has her strong opinions on things. All in all though, she is a much more loving and liberal Christian than most! Her kid does come up with some cute sayings which she shares with me. The other day Macklin was shouting, "Please Jesus, make my mommy's foot feel better!" 101 asked her why she was shouting and she said, "Well somethings you have to shout for Jesus to hear you!" LOL, cute kid! Orc ass
