I don't believe childern should be spanked. We need to show them more respect. They need to no that solving a problem should be done by working it out, not with violence. I did however spank my daughter once because she ran out in the parking lot at the store. She was 3 and I gave her one swat on her diapered butt. I didn't do it hard, just enough to let her know it was VERY wrong. When we got home I went to my room and cried. A little while later I went to talk to her about it, and we still talk about it every now and then. Since they are older, they do get grounded from certain things if they misbehave, such as video games, tv, etc.

I really don't think we should hit children, I do understand in a one or two time instance the child is in danger , a I am not messing around your life was in danger I can understand that. but only if needed....never as the foundation of parenting. We want our children to be resepcetful loving beings the way to accomplish that is through modeling that behavior quite a bit of the time...

I never spank my children. I think there are other effective ways of raising children. My children are great kids and yes, there have been times they have gotten into mischief but I'm glad I learned other ways to deal with it.

I agree with you guest, there are many ways to parent which do not involve hitting or humiliation or punishing of any sort and its nice to know someone else shares that view.

My son is afraid of me counting back from three I would rarely if ever need to even raise a hand never mind actually pop him....although I can honestly say that there have been times when I have to get the point across, like when he decided he didn't need an adult to walk out the house or into the street etc.....at six he knows when i'm serious and when i'm not.....I know some parents who do hit thier children and i don't like it if you need to hit on someone that's what husbands are for mooohahaha (i'm just kidding ya'll.....maybe :pirate: )

I don't think that there is anything wrong with spanking. Not beatings, but spankings. Parents are too lenient today and let their kids walk all over them. That's why kids are so disrespectful--they've never had discipline.

i feel to teach resepct one must model respect towards a child, if you start at birth with guiding a child yo uwill have no issues and you will not ever have to spank...

I don't hit or spank my child and he is very respectful it is yes ma'am and please and thank you he says i'm sorry and cleans up after himself he does good in school and can be taken anywhere from the park to a fancy resturant and knows how to act.....one does not make the other
On the other hand I know parents who are strict on thier kids and spank and pop them and the children don't have any respect for anyone.....
Don't get it confused that one has anything to do with the other

I never had to spank my oldest son....He was so easy to get to behave...But my youngest daughter is wide open..I have had to spank her a few time's so i think it' depend's on the child.....You can talk to my son but my daughter... Well she just tune's you out and goes right along her way......
