being a skeptic is good i think no matter what it is that you believe or need in your life the ability and the desire to question is very important...
But.....do you think questioning to much can be bad?

i think skepticism is good until it gets to the point where you refuse to believe things that are blatantly obvious. i myself am a skeptic, but i know there is a healthy line between skepticism and denial. _________________ "The true mystery of the world is the visible, not the invisible" -Oscar Wilde

I learned early in life not to always trust a person's word. I grew up in a small town where people know things about you before you do. The lies, rumors and embellishments people use to gossip about have been known to cut very deeply and cause great pain. I have also found that 100% of them are xian. I'm not saying that all of the xian people in my town were like this but the ones that were doing the damage happened to be xian. This speaks very loudly in that respect but that isn't where I was going with this. As you know by now miss bacca I, like you, have always questioned things. It's natural for me to be skeptical and go against the norm. I just can't help myself. My ma says I came out that way. _________________ Motivate Your Mind |

I am a lil bit religious but a big part of me is Skeptic...I think there is a skeptic side to ALL of us even those religious folks..they too are skeptical about some things..things that they wont tell you about...with all being said...I like to discover new things..find out more about life on my own...I love to read skeptics posts...it was the skeptics to whom I made friends with that inspired this very forum...Skeptics are smarter than a lot of religious folks...ok not all are but a VAST number of them are
I am the only Skeptic in my family...the rest of my family are purely religious....I am whats called the odd one out...I chose my own path and began to look at thinks much different from what I was ever taught as a kid..I feel proud of that :) _________________

religious people are VERY skeptic... problem is, they're only skeptics towards things that conflict with their religious teachings. does that make sense? _________________ "The true mystery of the world is the visible, not the invisible" -Oscar Wilde

being a sceptic is never a bad thing, in real life we hardly ever get the whole story from one source that's why it's always important to question everything...
in today's world there are so many people who are mor then willing to bend facts to sell you something. we have to be sceptics it's the only way now to get the truth about anything...
i say be more skeptic.. just don't make your self crazy and paranoid like me.... :smt119 |

| I personally am a skeptic but I don't think skepticism is good in all cases. I mean... I know that I'd be alot happier just sitting back and accepting a lie than trying to kill myself to find out the truth. Especially in questions with god//religion that there are no clear cut answers to. |

Post subject: Questioning all, to what point..
|
|
|
To question is the key to learning. Yet be careful to over-question. For when an individual goes down the path of questioning everything, they start to lose faith in what they hold true in their hearts. Is that a bad thing? Well, it truly depends on how that individual handles oneself when they break from a path and walk a new path.
Being a skeptic is a natural thing. But if you want to truly believe in something, any shred of doubt will hold you back from achieving what you hold true. The question is, what is it that you truly want to believe in? It's the voice in your heart that should guide you while your mind brings logic to that which is unexplainable.
Questioning could be the way to a new and stronger faith, but questioning could also give you the vicious circle of doubt. Just keep one thing in mind, it's what you feel is right and not what someone else tells you is right.

Once one finds the truth, there is no need to over-question that truth. That's what I'm getting at ;) .

Im both
I believe in some things and am skeptic of others.
two examples:
(1)God... I dont think God is real except for in our minds.....BUT.... i could be wrong and im not ashamed to admit it.
(2) Aliens.....I think they are real it seems silly to think that we are the only intelligent species in the universe but again i could be wrong and we could be alone in the universe.
