Post subject: govt taking control over our children
|
|
|
I am always full of opinons and since i can take either side i think it should be interesting to see what others say....so here's a basic first open debate subject:
How much control should the government have over your children? we all know that there are government organizations that watch out for child abuse, doctors are mandated reporters to the govt...the schools teach not only how to read and write but about morals and sex ed....kids can not have thier teeth cleaned without parental permission but teenagers can have abortions....kids have guns and the govt doesn't care as long as they are registered regaurdless of what the parent says....there are countless other examples of how the govt in ways controls what you can and can not do with your children....you must have your child immunized and give them medical treatment even if you as the parent feel it is wrong and don't want it....etc etc etc
so my question is about this first topic how do you feel? and what can we do about it? who's fault is it? and why?

The gov uses scare tactics all the time , Some parent need a hand bringing up their kids , and yes these gov warnings will help some of them.
I personally think it begins at home . We used to have the situation where dad worked and mum brought up the children , they had good healthy food on the table , they were outside most of the time getting plenty of exercise and germs were part of the norm.
now there is no time for exercise,,,playstations, cd,s , pc,s , etc have brought an endto that, plus the pedo that lurks aroung the corner mens you are no longer safe round your local play park
healthy food , more like micro meals and fast food , mum is now working and is tired when she gets home , cooking over a hot stove , no chance
Germs , what are they , hear take an anti-biotic and it should go away ina few days
getting back to some old traditions would help , getting our values in order ould help to , money is not everything.
enough of me ranting , your turn |

I have a philosophy very similar to Warden's on this subject... The government want to give us all the idea that as soon as we set on out that door, we'll be attacked by a crack addicted, AIDS infrected... Pitbull... because they don't want us to get out here and see the world for what it is.
I would say that they have a lot of control over kids... Just look at commercials... Kids will see a commercial for the new Barbie or Action Man, and suddenly think "I want that"... Cigarette adverts, before they were banned in the UK were aimed at younger and younger audiences, I.E. teenagers... The list goes on, and that's why the gvt are tainting our collective unconciouss... _________________

Well IMO...I am finally to the point where...I have 1 daughter through highschool .."Now in college" 2nd yr and a daughter who is graduating this year..and 1 that still has a 2 yrs....in highschool.
Given the chance ...the govt...in the USA..will pick your brain with a small toothed comb..and also it always seemed to me that the "School system"...ie teachers...counselors...etc,...had more rights to my children than I did...used to make me really mad...Like for instance...I think they give the kids too many options....my daughter was sitting in class..and they pump this "Self esteem" shit into their heads so much that one girl told the teacher..."I can't answer that question ...and if you ask me again..your hurting my self esteem"...c'mon...I don't know about any of you ..but I had to take the hard knocks of life...made me a stronger person for it.....If kids sit around being all EMO all the time...it's not going to help them in the big bad world they will enter...cuz guess what...people in the real world don't care about your self esteem
Also the immunization crap...ok it's good to arm yourself against big bad diseases...but by being a good parent you will have your child immunized ..you don't need some school telling you that your child can't attend unless they have this or that...but in the same token if they have a headache...nope can't carry aspirin..unless a doctor perscribes it...Also theri teeth...why the hell do they have to have their teeth checked at school...or if you choose to go to your own dentist..you have to prove that you took your child...ugh....the list goes on and on.
And anitbiotics....I don't think that they should prescribe them as much as they do...for instance...the body is built with it's own immune system...so yeah a virus breaks through....you give an antibiotic...guess what...after your body becomes use to that anitbiotic...the virus could come back at another time or just re-occur..and that antibiotic will not work..so they have to find another one ..the reason it won't work is that ...the virus also becomes immune to it...vicious cycle...So why all the antibiotics...who knows....Now some of them are ok...but for some it's senseless to give them...
I could go on and on about this but...the simple truth is that the government and Doctors...and teachers are taking our rights away as parents... and in the same token...giving are children a world of "No respect"....El Bandito _________________ Never fear the dead, fear the living, they are more dangerous...."Trust Me" |

Well said EB.
Antibiotics... When my son was small the docs were always giving him antibiotics for every little thing. I came down with a bad ear infection (I didn't sleep for 3 days straight from the pain) yet when I went to the doctors (my first appointment in 12 months!) they sent me away woith advice to take paracetamol. My son had an ear infection a week later and was given a course of anti-b's. I asked if his infection was any different to mine and was told no, he was given the drugs as he "was younger and couldn't cope as well"?!?!?
