| I walk my own path, but I think describing my path best would have to fit under Pagan/Wiccan. It started 4 years ago when I became disabled. I had a lot of time in my hands and after watching tv all day for a couple weeks, I was bored. I began reading. I have always been intrested in the metaphysical. I ran across a section in a book (I have forgotten the title), it was about Wicca. I always looked apon witches as negative and mischevious. The more I read the book, the more I realised that, not only is Wicca very positive, but I had been kinda practicing some aspects of it my whole life without knowing it. Since it seems to be still a taboo subject, I have bought many books and feel like I have found myself. I practice solitary, but my husband and kids are leaning more towards it as well. My kids are a little young, (9 and 10), so I still try to teach them about other paths and religions. I think they need to know as much as possible so they can feel comfortable with the path they choose. :( |

I started out on my Path trying to explain things that were happening in my life. First I looked to science, I found only half answers. It was a very confusing time for me. My wife was dieing, I was diagnosed with MS. The forest spirits of the place I living were making themselves known.
After my wife had passed she came back gave me a teddy bear through a little girl who had been her friend. The night she died she visited the little girl and ask her to give it to me. The little girl had no idea my wife had passed, she thought my wife had come to visit her Grandmother and came in her room to say hello.
When I told a friend what I was trying to find and what I had happen he suggested I look at Paganism. After a trip to the library things started to click. I searched many Paths over the past five years including Wicca and I have settled on Druidry. I plan to devote the summer in the study of it. Then when I am out of college I will devote the rest of my life to it. It takes many years of study to become a Druid priest, but I am a life long learner by nature, so I am sure it will make an enjoyable life for me |

| I'm just a man traveling down the path of life alone. I was born alone and I shall die alone. There weren't any thunderbolts cast down from the sky to announce my arrival and there won't be any choir of angels to sing me to my sleep. |

| My path is NB if i was to do labels but I don't lol i basically beleive in life allow life to reveal her mysteries to me through the living of mine... I've investigated alot of thigs alot of philosoophys and truthfully i think there is sacredness in all things i will always be open to looking at paths , openess to me is the ability to derive worth and merit from any given path...For me that changes things. If I'm gonna become what i beleive you better belive I'm gonna know what the hell I'm beleiving in and is it worthwhile and viable and valuable...... :( |

My path to where I am now kind of echoes Nova and Darkwind's comments. I'd always felt there was something missing and from an early age was interested in the mysteries of life and nature. In my teens I read a book on Paganism and it was like reading the answers to the questions I'd been asking. Through further reading I've decided that I fit into the Wiccan category, much like Nova I too have been unconciously practicing aspects of the Craft. It's very strange Nova, even your comments about your husband and children becoming interested ring true in this household LOL
Can I just add that the one thing that really gets me going is ignorant people who accuse us of Satanistic practices. Surely in this day and age people are intelligent enough to understand the difference?
lol... rant over :) |

| Bebi, I agree with you. People need to become more educated when it comes to giving an opinion about something, anything, not just WIcca. Some people need to keep there minds open and their mouths closed. |

Post subject: Questioning my faith?!
|
|
|
Up until recently I have been a complete believer in my faith. I am a Pagan, & have been for 8 years, my dilemma is this
My husband is a big fan of Derren Brown, & I find his mind tricks fascinating but he seems to prove that psychic ability and majick is false! I understand that he knows that we all have the ability to influence others but he proves that it doesn't take majick just subtle suggestioning. I am utterly distraught as he has almost destroyed everything that I know!
I just don't know what to do. I have prayed & cast my circle over & over and nothing seems to be coming to me, (& still this man appears on my TV each week!!)
Is it the Gods ways of testing my strength? Or am I testing myself? Is this just the part of my life in which I question who I am & what I am doing with my life?
I would really appreciate your feedback.
Thanks & Blessings x |

I think you are testing yourself. If you have self doubt your magic will not work. This guy is showing you how magicians do their illusions. There is a big difference between what we as witches do and what they do.
Think about it he has to be in the some room to have an effect on someone right? (Haven't see the show, he is not on in the states.) I am rarely in the same room when I infuence someone. Take this story about my brother.
One time my Mother and I need him to call, but I knew he was at work so I couldn't call him. I sat down at my computer to email him. As I sat there I kept saying over and over call me. Five minutes later he called saying he didn't know why he was calling but he felt like he needed to call. I told him I did a little spell to get him to call. He got upset and told me witch craft was bull. So I said then why did you call. He couldn't answer that. I was not in the same room or even in the same state with him I had no way to influence him.
I have a book to suggest to you. It is not a book on Magic it is a book on physics, The Holographic Universe by Michael Tabet. It will help you understand how magic works.
I think as far as your Circles go you are trying to hard. Relax you don't make things happen every time. Sometimes it is enough to just honor the Gods and Goddesses and thank them for life and family.
I hope this was helpful for you
Blessings,
Darkwind |

Thank you Darkwind, you are probably right, I am probably just going through a strange time right now, as I've never questioned my beliefs before, & I'll see the light soon enough. As for my majick, it just shocked me to find that it wasn't working, but you're right, I am trying too hard, time for intense meditation, a nice hot bath & try again later.
Thank you for your feedback, much appreciated!
Blessings to all x |

Sly | Welcome Sly
I to walk my own path. It is only since I have gotten older that I started to look at my ancestors beliefs. What it meant to them and how it relates to what I am now. _________________ NATIVE AMERICAN WISDOM |

I don't consider myself anything really. I appreciate the ancient religions and such but I just can't define myself as there is no one belief that resonates totally with me. I would probably think I walk more in the way of Buddhism philosophy wise.
I'm still in the process of learning about Paganism and Wiccan. I think my latest interest came in a strange way. I had a few people tell me that I was a healer in a past life and than one lady came out and said she thought I was a healing witch in a past life. I found that pretty interesting so it invoked me to want to learn more about it. But slowly I'm undoing the falshoods about the true nature of Wiccan. I definately feel a connection with it but I don't know why.
However I imagine my path in this life will be to learn as much as I can and apply bits and pieces of every belief and no belief at all into my being and growth.
