Thought I would post on this as it's a topic I'm really interested in and struggle with.
I've been Vegetarian since I was 12, was vegan for about 2 years but then started eating cheese again when I moved back to the States two years ago. I don't really know how to classify what I am now- I don't drink milk but eat some things made from milk and milk products, I eat cheese (not that often) and eggs about once a week and I have fish or seafood every once in a while. I haven't eaten "proper" meat in years and the thought of it makes me queasy but I like meat replacements- Quorn and I absolutely love tofu.
I guess I am of the opinion that everything is okay in moderation- don't do diets. My hubbie is an omnivore but most of the time he eats veggie with me. When we have kids, I'd like to raise them vegan but that may cause problems if we are still in our current eating situation (i.e. "how come daddy eats dead animals?") I have aspirations for becoming an all-organic vegan type but what can I say, I'm weak right now. I always feel guilty for eating animal products but I just can't give them all up yet.

What is hard to give up about meat????? Maybe I'm just strange but I am thrilled to not have to eat meat, i actually thought you had to eat to live.....For me its a relief I as a kid didn't like meat I felt then it wasn't good for you and milk too i hate milk and milk products....My son has been raised Vegan...all the best to you for wanting too...you will have a very healthy child and very smart too....
