Post subject: Why So many God's
|
|
|
I've often wondered about this...Why so many different religions if we are all supposed to have been created by one God...
There are so many religions that have so many different rules, regulations...praying methods..The list goes on and on...and I thought about this all my life..."Which one is the true God/religion.....
I feel that people created religion....I'm an atheist so I'm skeptical when it comes to religion..but c'mon..which one is right...depending on who you are speaking to that's the difference..
And think about how many wars have been fought in the name of religion...because someone didn't like the way others were living their lives...so they tried to make them follow their religion...
So......in my opinion...religion was made by the human race..not one is the same...all have different view points...it's all in what one wants to believe or what one was taught from birth... Just my opinion and I don't mean to offend anyone...just have so many unanswered questions...El Bandito

That my friend is a very good question.
It is mentioned in the Christian Bible of other Gods and that in it's self lends credence to other deities. _________________ NATIVE AMERICAN WISDOM |

Exactly....!!!!....So I'm just gonna wait around until something shows me what is the true and all powerful......I'm going with the spirit of myself..and when the lights go out and nobody is home...I will know that in the end..."I've done my best and I've done a good job"...
There is just too much to absorb for one human being to make a decision on what is and what isn't...so I'm going with...ummmm Duh!!!! maybe I'll find out...and maybe I won't..but one thing is for sure...the bugs ain't eatin this girl.......LOL...I will be in a little urn somewhere mixed with my husbands ashes...and seperated between my daughters.....We do have a plan...for what they are going to do with them...LOL...but no bugs eatin my butt thank you....El Bandito _________________ Never fear the dead, fear the living, they are more dangerous...."Trust Me" |

What ever Deity you worship as long as you feel comfortable with Her/Him/It then it is "the true and all powerful God".....for you. _________________ NATIVE AMERICAN WISDOM |

ummm yeah I guess but being an atheist...well I don't worship a God at all...so will see what happens....maybe I'll be proven wrong when all is said and done..who really knows...El Bandito _________________ Never fear the dead, fear the living, they are more dangerous...."Trust Me" |

You got me on that one.
What ever you feel to be right and as long as you feel comfortable with it then it is the truth for you.
What is the truth for you might not be for the next person....and this is the point where problems seems to occur. _________________ NATIVE AMERICAN WISDOM |

Yes sometimes problems seem to occur...I would love for someone to show me the right path...show me what is real...When I say atheist...well I'm also agnostic to a certain point...See...nobody has ever given me the answers to the questions that I have so therefore...I'm termed and atheist...If I could somehow be shown the right path..that might change...but I in no way debunk anyones beliefs...after all..it is their choice and not mine....El Bandito _________________ Never fear the dead, fear the living, they are more dangerous...."Trust Me" |

el bandito, we share some very similar views.
i have tried christianity and can now say from experience that it is incorrect... or at least grossly misrepresented. i feel like the christian god, assuming he exists, is a very vain and jealous creature. he writes a book depicting "satan" or temptation to be the cause of everything bad. sounds like my little sisters blaming one another for the missing cookies from the cookie jar!!! :P at any rate, god boasts of his own glory in the bible and feels it necessary for everyone to worship him blindly if they want to go to heaven. is that fair? no. does it make sense? no. do people follow it anyway? you bet they do.
anyhow, there are so many different gods and beliefs in this world. i, like you, have decided to sit back and wait. if 'god' wants me to believe in him so much, he will come find me. he knows what he would have to do to make me a believer. and if i never find an answer regarding religion, it doesn't matter. when it all comes down to it, i'll just be a pile of earth anyway, so what does it matter what i believed on earth? if 'god' refuses to let me into 'heaven', i will insist that he isn't being fair as he never gave me a reason to believe in him. i would like to see him try to win that argument! lol!
and if not, hey, i'll go party with the devil in hell. not a bad deal either way. _________________ "The true mystery of the world is the visible, not the invisible" -Oscar Wilde

So True Rose Ashes...If he is what they interpret him to be...he will find me right?....I've tried to find him for years but for some reason I just can't follow the pack so to speak...I see glitches in the whole Christianity beliefs...I can't believe in something I doubt...So if or when he finds me...I can say..hey I've been looking for you for years...where yah been ...but until then...I'll just kick back and realize that when all is said and done...I did my best ...El Bandito _________________ Never fear the dead, fear the living, they are more dangerous...."Trust Me" |

Post subject: my words
|

I am a very religious person. I believe in God, and heaven, etc. But my beliefs are more blended than others, and I tend to be more flexible than other Christians. I've been to Catholic, Christian, and Presbyterian churches. I've researched evolution and even did a report on evolution vs. christianity.
Like you EB, I've also had a lot of unanswered questions. I still have some. But I believe that's what faith is. Faith is believing in something, even if you don't know the truth or the outcome, in any situation. I can't prove that there was a Jesus without a book, I've never met Adam or Eve, and I can't say that a priest or pastor or rabbi truly knows what their talking about. And yet, I believe. It may be blind, and to some, naive. But I feel secure. It's satisfying to think, even if it is false, that there is something better out there waiting for me. My morals are pretty much similar to God's laws, so I figure, if I believe...if I follow, then I don't lose anything. Even if there isn't a God or a heaven, I'd rather play it safe than be sorry in the end.
I believe that these unanswered questions will be revealed in time. I think this is half of heaven, knowing the truth, like in "The Five People You Meet In Heaven" (which, BTW, is an excellent read, even for non-believers. It's really not about religion, actually God isn't in it at all. It's about fate).
And as for finding the path, like vincent said, no one can do it for you. I think it's fate. Some people have been known to being "saved" on their death beds. I don't believe in being saved, but I do feel that every good person comes to terms with God. And if you truly are a good person, and follow His laws (or commandments), even if it isn't in his name but strictly your own morals, then I don't think he'd have a reason to condemn you. I believe He is forgiving and merciful.
Just thought I'd add some spice to the chili. I didn't see any other Christian points of view so I figured I'd add one.

ps. I think the different religions are simply different interpretations of a higher being. With all the billions of people in the world, each with their own personalities and experiences, it would be a miracle for everyone to believe the same thing. No one thinks the same. To me, religion is simply a group of people who think similarly.
again,
