Post subject: Suetonius and Chrestus

|
This is part of an ongoing thread on the Koreabridge forums - the original subject was Suetonius and Chrestus which myself, Zan, and Oy Veyer pretty well shot down, but Stevie came back with Thallus, which we shot down again now this is the next chapter of the thread - What do you all think:
Well, since Stevie has suddenly developed a new found interest in history, I need to introduce him to a 1st century CE icon, a religious “philosopher” who contributed a great amount to the nascent Christian’s dogma, in particular the concept of “the Logos/ the Word” as presented in the Gospel of John (John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God). He has been accused of being the actual founder of Christianity, taking Jewish religious beliefs and joining them with Greek Mystery religions and Platonic philosophy. This man, along with Josephus, is our premier source for knowledge of the 1st century BCE and 1st Century CE sects and cults of Judaism, he gives us a close look at the beliefs and practices of the Essene, among others. He is recognized as a first rate historian of the Jewish people, a representative of them to the Emperor of Rome and a member of one of the leading families of Jerusalem and later a leader of the Alexandria Jews. He is none other than Philo Judaeus, aka Philo of Alexandria, or Julius Philo (his birth name). He was a contemporary of Augustus Caesar, Tiberius, Cyrenius, Pontius Pilate, Paul and even the ever elusive Jesus of Nazareth (as if he actually existed). He was born in Alexandria, but resided in Jerusalem for a while, a period that coincides with the time Jesus supposedly travelled, preached, was executed and rose again, Yet this pillar of information for the 1st Century CE, this maven of religious philosophy and cult dogma, this expert witness of history of Judea and YHWH’s people and religion says not one word of that miraculous god-man, not one word of the great miracles that this godling performed, not one word of his trial and execution, not one word of his resurrection, not one word of the darkness during the day, not one word of the great earthquakes that took place at that time, not one word of the saints climbing from the grave and walking the streets of Jerusalem, not one word of the curtain in the Temple being torn from top to bottom, not one word even of a sect of Judaism called Christians. We can’t accuse the ancients of destroying and altering Philo’s works, his beliefs were so close to that of the newly founded religion of Christianity that they would have (and did) preserved them for all time. It is almost like maybe this bastardly get of the Hebrew God never existed and is merely another man made religion…whatdaya think Stevie, what absurd excuse can you come up with Lumberjack?
