Post subject: Stalker stories

Thought I'd take the initiative and start a thread where we can share experiences of stalking, whether online or in real life it doesn't matter; both can be just as worrying. Those who have experienced it can also offer advice to those who are suffering.
I've experienced both. When I left my ex husband he'd stalk me online using various screen names. It got to the point where he'd follow me into a chat room and cause trouble. At the same time he'd wait outside where I worked in the hope of catching me and talking to me, or just turn up at my mum's house (where I was living at the time) for a "cuppa" at odd hours of the day and evening. Oh, and he also used to ring the phone constantly until someone picked it up, if my mum answered and said I'd gone to bed hed accuse her of lying for me and that I was really out sleeping around. I ended up threatening him with police action (suggested by my mum) and thankfully he stopped, but it was very stressful at the time.
Also a couple of years later I had a stalker who'd follow me round the city I lived in and do things like let down my cycle tyres while I was shopping. He'd enter a cafe or pub I was in with my friends, and sit down for either up to 10 mins or until the waiter/waitress asked him to leave as he hadn't ordered anything. The occasions he wasn't asked to leave he'd leave on his own after a while and wait outside. He also used to follow me round the town on foot, I'd see him anything up to 10-15 times over the course of an ordinary Saturday at the shops with my mates. He only ever approached me once, right at the very beginning. He tried to talk to me but I said "sorry I'm not interested" and walked away. Did this start it? I don't know, but I really couldn't think of anything else to say - I definitely didn't want a conversation with a stranger... I tried talking to the police but because I had no details other than a description they couldn't really do anything other than be called as an emergency if he tried anything what use is that?

geez, that's scary! is the second guy still bothering you?
i've never been stalked, really, but that's probably because no one in their right mind would want to stalk me. LOL. _________________ "The true mystery of the world is the visible, not the invisible" -Oscar Wilde

Hi Ashley great to see you here
I've since moved so the second guy doesn't really have a chance, my current husband is great regarding my ex and will speak to him for me if I can't face him. Since he's realised that I'm with Andy now and nothing will change that he's backed off a hell of a lot. _________________

actually, i may end up taking back the statement saying "i have never been stalked". when we came home this evening, there was a man standing outside his car on our street in front of our house with all the lights off... just standing there. as i thought about it, i remembered that earlier this morning, a car had pulled over and stopped in relatively the same spot. it had stayed there for about 5 minutes with its emergency blinkers on... and then left. i thought it was odd but shrugged it off until this later incident. the cars were relatively the same, though i didn't get a good look at either of them, they are definitely similar. i didn't get a good look at the man either, but i didn't recognize him at all.
it's far to early to determine this a case of "stalking", but still creepy nevertheless... what do you guys think? _________________ "The true mystery of the world is the visible, not the invisible" -Oscar Wilde

First of all ask your neighbours if this person is anything to do with them. Try and get the licence plate number/make/model of car, or take a digital pic from inside the house for future evidence. Alternatively ask a male relative/neighbour to go out and ask what he's doing. _________________

we're not very close with any neighbors... our lots are around 3 acres each, so we're fairly spread out from them. he was stopped directly in front of our house. we also don't have any male family members or neighbors that live very close by. we live in a neighborhood full of elderly people for the most part.
but if he comes back, i will most definitely take a picture. he stopped by about this time the other morning... so we'll see what happens. _________________ "The true mystery of the world is the visible, not the invisible" -Oscar Wilde

Rose when/if this happens again just call the police and tell them there is a suspicious vehicle and you want it checked out because of the elderly people in the area.
That gets a heads up every time.
