Post subject: Pres. Bush: "US a nation of prayer"

Today, our revered President George Walker Bush stated that the United States is a nation of prayer. He added that everywhere he goes, people don't say "How about that bridge?" or "When's that pothole getting filled?"; they say "We pray for you, Mr. President, and your family."
On the sacastic slant, I "pray" for Bush, too, but not in the same context as is quoted above.
The countertext to what Bush said is that you're not a part of this nation if you don't pray, that you're not "patriotic" if prayers are not in your repertoire.
This is a classic, "just exactly perfect," example of Othering. The Religious Right and, in particular, this Administration, need to stop this type of not-so-subtle oppression.
And, I don't think it's a coincidence that he said these things at a time when millions of illegal Latina immigrants, the majority of whom are devout Christians, are seeking status as citizens.

I pray that you'll be impeached and brought to justice for the crimes you have commited in office.

argh, i hate it when he does that. it's basically saying that america is a christian nation and if you don't pray, you are anti-american. well, bush, newsflash- america is the LAND OF THE FREE. as in, we get to CHOOSE what religion we want to be, and america was founded on the idea of RELIGIOUS FREEDOM- hence the "freedom of religion" part of the first ten amendments.
i pray for him. i pray he ends up in hell and realizes the injustices he's doing to his country.

That would be the 1 Amendment
Amendment I - Freedom of Religion, Press, Expression. Ratified 12/15/1791.
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
But as you see in the news it is slowly going away.

While I was having a clear out I found a print-out of a poem someone wrote about Bush.
Edit: It's not quite what I thought it was; concerning the Iraqi war more than anything. If anyone still wants to read it let me know and I'll post it.

I don't pray, I use the powers of meditation to transfer my energy. I'm tired of this administration telling me that I'm unAmerican and unPatriotic if I don't worship their entity. Hogwash, I'm one of the most patriotic Americans I know. I'm a liberal who wants JUSTICE FOR ALL not a conservative with christian views that only serve themselves.
If their is such a thing as Karma then I hope it comes around and kicks him (Bush and crew) in the butt. Nothing bad but only to make him so poor that he has to eat rock soup and dirt sandwiches. How ironic would that be?

Bush yuck yuck yuck....i don't do religion or politics..Religon is the art of vitimization and hatred and politics is the art of deception....I don't vote I have found other ways to make a difference and actually work.....
i am sick of people telling me becasue I don't vote i haev no right to an opinion, I say bullshit like it or not I have an opinion..... |

i can't vote yet... but if i could, i definitely would. so i still reserve the right to complain about it, though i don't vote LOL. 
it's just difficult... being only one person in a nation with so many... we don't get much voice in what's being done to us, voting or not. that is what frustrates me. the government has ridiculous amounts of control over us, and they keep things secret that we, as a nation, should be well aware of.

President Bush is a disgrace to the USA...plain and simple...think about it ...from day 1 "In my opinion" he went to finish something his "Daddy" started..."The Gulf War" Remember that one...well George Sr. had it all at the time...he could have destroyed Saddam Heissan *sp* But why??? why go there in the first place..."ahem...Oil...my feller amaricans..."Not a typo...just how he pronounces it"...LOL...And then he says it's a nation of prayer....ummm no George we have freedom of religion...and also...now if were talkin about religion...hahaha....our American Dollars say..."In God We Trust" ....ok...they want to take that off of them...and also they want to take the 10 commandments out of all buildings...LOL...c'mon a nation of prayer...you can't even handle this how can you help America George...
Ok then 2 months into office the United States gets hit pretty hard with people they have been harboring here in the first place...giving them free education on how to fly a plane "Horizontally" did you know they "The terrorists" didn't want to know how to take off or land...just fly horizontal..."There's your first clue sherlock"...and the thing that totally baffled me was.......why give Osama bin laden fair warning...hmmmm yeah like he would surrender for something that he is really good at..."Terrorism"..but No Old George W...gives him ample waring and then to everyone's astonishment ..he goes to Iraq instead of going after Osama bin laden.... not him personally "The coward"...sends young males right out of highschool...why not send his little twin daughters...LOL ok someone tell me "Why????" Weapons of mass destruction that were never found...c'mon George yah looked like an idiot...and you continue to kill our soldiers...everyday...and the real kicker is that American Soldiers are being put in prison for killing...OK..ummm isn't that what they were sent there for...OMG...this whole crisis is just insane...it's no more than a way for old George W...to make money off the oil industry..Which the American people are paying for...geez gasoline right now where I live is $3.00 american dollars for the cheap stuff that makes your car spit and sputter...Yep...you could say I'm a ANGRY AMERICAN!!! Bring the freakin troops home..you go find Osama Bin Laden...cuz well "Georgy boy" you know exactly where he's at...why kill young boys just out of high school to benefit your own life....Yah jerk...El Bandito
