I was born and raised in a town called "Indian Trail", known for having been a native american settlement back in the day. as a kid, i would occasionally find arrowheads when i went for walks in the woods or in the field across from my house. the area was heavily populated with deer, rabbits, and wildlife until developments started popping up and eventually destroyed what was once a wonderful habitat.

anyhow, each year the town has the "Indian Trail Pow-wow" which is basically just a celebration of the town's history as a native american area. nowadays, it's more of a festival where people buy anything remotely native-american looking at walmart and jack up the prices, selling it as authentic native american art. whatever.

now to end my small off-topic rants and get on with what i was going to talk about... my heritage is rather unknown. my dad's side of the family has lived in this area for generations. we strongly suspect we have NA (native american) blood in our family, due to the dark eyes and hair, and somewhat dark skin (not me, by any means, but my grandfather could DEFINITELY pass as half NA). At any rate, judging by my pictures, does it seem that i could possibly be part NA?

the question is mainly out of curiosity... but it also has to do with something i realized today when i was walking through that festival looking at the art and listening to the flute music.

i remembered my childhood, and how i was always fascinated with NA heritage and beliefs. how i adored wolves, deer, rabbits- all wild animals, especially wolves. i never really felt comfortable believing in a god, persay. i don't know who created this planet, and i don't particularly care, but the natural world is so amazing that it makes more sense to me to concentrate on the beauty of the creation itself rather than the anonymous creator.

i've always felt extremely in tune with nature. a good example would be from a few months ago when i went to my grandparents house. there's a huge cow pasture across the street, which has one very mean bull. he tries to kill pretty much everyone that gets near him. my mom and sisters went up to the fence and he began pawing the ground and preparing to charge them, so they left, and he quit pawing the ground. i held out my hand and he came up to it. he let me pet him and scratch his ears (he loved that! lol) and by the end of the day he was letting me give him a big kiss on the nose. and yet whenever my mom or my sisters or even his owner came near him, he would try to charge. another good example occurred last spring at school. a small bird had flown into the chemistry classroom. i walked in, without knowing what all of the commotion was about. i then spotted the bird, who had landed near the windowsill. i walked up to him, and picked him right up and released him out the window. he didn't try to fly away, he just stared at me. it was later that i found out that everyone had been trying to catch him for several minutes, but no one had been able to do so. he flew away from every one of them. perhaps these are coincidences, but there are so many instances where dogs that hate people will come right up to me and hop on my lap, etc. i feel that animals are much more intelligent than we give them credit for.

whether all of this is consistent with NA beliefs, i am not sure. i haven't really researched the topic. i was hoping some of you *cough* vincent *cough* could tell me more. just thought i would put this out there and see if there's a possibility that i'm part NA, and if that could explain my odd tendencies.

i have always been content to go walking in the woods all day long or to watch a deer for hours in my back yard, as it grazes. the peace flutes and music similar to that make me feel at home. i guess that i want to know if this is perhaps where i belong. because i feel like maybe it is, and that i just haven't connected everything up until now. or maybe it is just wishful thinking. who knows?

PS if i get a chance, i will take a picture of the arrowhead and show it to you all.

Are you OK?

I too show a lot of these tendencies and (I want to say abilities) that you describe.
I have walked to within 20 feet of deer during open deer season....picked up healthy birds outside....pet a normaly vicious dog without getting bit.

You do not need to be part NA to be "of the blood"

What do you want to know?

It is a term I have heard many times by full blooded NA's.
It is not derogatory in any way and describes how or what a person is inside.

yes, i think i will be okay. thanks =P
anyhow, i guess my basic questions are just... what do NA's typically believe? just general beliefs, i suppose. and do i look as if i could be part NA? i felt extremely at peace with myself when i was at that festival. the paintings and jewelry and music... and the dancing and costumes... they all seemed familiar.
