I don't wanna be a mod ! really . that's too much responsibility and biting my tongue to the extreme ! I gotta be me ! I gotta be free ! lol. really. I've been a loud mouth especially for the underdog since I was a kid.

System requirements are about as much as XP.
There are several options to Ubuntu you can try including testing it without installing (live cd).
Take the Ubuntu tour
For those of you that still have older computers (P3/P4 chips) check out Xubuntu: Xubuntu
Got young kids: Edubuntu
EDIT: I forgot to say it is all open source>FREE
