Post subject: Gene therapy for weight loss?
|
|
|
This is my first time in the debate section so please forgive me if I do anything wrong LOL
With the advances in gene therapy surely at some point someone will find a way to alter our genes to only "consume" the correct amount of calories etc.
Would advances like this actually be a benefit to us as a species or is it just laziness?
If this ever becomes reality should it be offered only to people who have struggled with their weight with no success? Or should it be made readily available?
Should it be offered on the NHS (or similar in non-UK countries) or to private patients only?
Your thoughts please :O)

| it's an interesting idea...... gene therapy to help with more then just weight lose though.....imagine if you could design your own child....how many people would do it? it would fall into the same category would it not? me personally i like the idea of never knowing what i'm going to get but i know a lot of people who would like to garantee it you know? |

I can understand gene therapy to prevent a hereditary disease in a child, but anything less than a valid medical reason to me just seems petty and selfish. _________________
