Post subject: Difficult pregnancies

Some women have a picture perfect pregnancy...but what about the problems that occur for some women during pregnancy..
I myself had a horrific first pregnancy...In my 5th month with my first daughter I was hospitilized for spasmodic labor...I was terrified that was I was going to miscarry...Went straight to the hospital where I was given a procedure called "A McDonald Suture"... This is a procedure where they sew the cervix shut...I was told at that point that my cervix was "Incontinent" wouldn't hold the baby and would continue to dialate without the surgery.
I was hospitalized 9 times where the labor was stopped...Then when the time came for my daughter to be born...they had to induce me for two days...The cervix stopped working...With my 2nd daughter I was given the McDonald suture at 2 months and was prepared for what I should do to have a healthy pregnancy...I gained 23 lbs...with my first daugther "because I was so stressed" and with my 2nd hehe...I gained 35 lbs...because I was aware of what to do to have a healthy baby...
There are also countless other serious difficulties with women and pregnancy....Where do these women go for the help they need...It increases their stress thoughout their pregnancy...Most times the babies are born prematurely and with complications at birth...
What started out as a joyous wonderful situation can turn into a horrific pregnancy....
My advice is to educate yourself prior to conception of all the possibilities..and keep yourself informed throughout your pregnancy...ask your doctor about all the conditions and how he will handle them ...what procedures etc,....It will help you in so many ways...it's the not knowing that will drive you crazy...El Bandito
