Are believers culpable for overpopulation?

This question was born from my hearing the story of a man with 17 children of whom 6 were not as normal, so to speak, as the rest. No twins. This family is poor and arguably has no quality of life.

Most Gods favor a reproducing group of adherents.
Without adherents, there relevance would be lost to history.

From Adam on down, we have not let God down, we have reproduced.

Be they Eastern or Western religions, are religions and believers responsible for our dismal control of reproduction?

Are believers culpable for our overpopulation?

Regards
DL

religions ? well in part . But more so when people needed children , especially sons , to work their farms and care for them as they aged. tradition. God having nothing to do with it. even pre the concept of God. The more you had the more land you could work and prey you could bring down.

Naturally you are right Ripley...at least to a point, but then we have the Abrahamic religions coming in and saying:

Gen 8:16 Go forth of the ark, thou, and thy wife, and thy sons, and thy sons' wives with thee.
Gen 8:17 Bring forth with thee every living thing that is with thee, of all flesh, both of fowl, and of cattle, and of every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth; that they may breed abundantly in the earth, and be fruitful, and multiply upon the earth....

So a bit of both...but the religions of Abraham do emphasis being fruitful... Orc ass
